You don't mess with a classic design on a whim. The outgoing "old" PB12-NSD already had a killer BASH amplifier, we'd updated it with our latest NSD woofer, and it featured our famous base-plate design first used on our signature Powered Cylinder subs. But over a year ago the freakishly good, and wildly popular PB10-NSD sub set the stage for an update our mid-priced and original 12" SVS "Powered Box" sub.
You see it here, the "New PB12-NSD". Quite literally "New and Improved" in every respect . And it's poised to take value-oriented music and movie fans to new places. With introductory prices of just $779 in Canada, there are few products which can keep pace with its accuracy, depth, linearity, and effortless dynamics. Even at twice this price, there are few subs that compete on all fronts. The SVS "secret"? Selling factory direct allows us to use better components and more costly features than other brands.
The PB12-NSD now sports the more simple front-firing cabinet design first seen on the PB10-NSD, a patented 4" internal/externally flared port with longer tubing for an even deeper tune, a newly-revised amp, and two precision CNC-machined braces.
All this while keeping price and weight in line with our original "Powered Box". So, while we did indeed mess with a good thing, this new PB12-NSD has flatter frequency response, goes deeper and thus is more powerful overall than its predecessor.
In short, if you can afford to spend a bit more than the $579 we charge for the PB10-NSD, you'll get a lot more sub - more features, a bigger cabinet, a larger port, and a stronger woofer.
And whereas the PB10-NSD provides only for hookup to Dolby Digital surround receivers, the PB12-NSD gives you the ability to do that, and hook to virtually ANY sort of system you might have. An old stereo system, even one with only speaker outputs? No problem for this sub.
How's it work then? Stunningly well, which is a saying quite a bit coming from SVS, where "top of class" performance has become commonplace. Scroll on down to the frequency response at the bottom of this page. Smooth, flat, and frankly, unmatched in the industry. No subwoofer brand ever seriously challenged the amazing performance of this sub's predecessor, but we don't take chances at SVS. We "super- sized" the world-beater PB10-NSD, and ensured the new PB12-NSD could enter our successful export lines for customers outside the USA too (special 220V export models are always more costly to build and ship however).
Please note that due to exceptional increases in raw material and transport costs, many product prices are expected to be going up in the weeks to come. So don't wait long for the latest in affordable big box powered subwoofers from SVS.
